A lot of fun...

For you movie buffs, this article rates The Top 50 Movie Endings of All Time. They admit in the prologue they "forgot a few", but the list is pretty good. I have two addendums, though I am not sure where they fit in:

1) Raising Arizona. Nicolas Cage's H.I. McDunnough dreams of his future with his wife and family in a true storybook fashion. His final line (not repeated since I know of at least two people who still haven't seen it) is priceless.

2) Joe vs. the Volcano. Not a cinematic classic in any sense of the word ("Brain Cloud"?), but the line "No matter where we go, we're taking this luggage" kills me every time!

After perusing the list, chime in with your favorites.

He's wrong in his placement of several of the movies - both Memento and Empire Strikes Back should be MUCH higher, and Blair Witch is absolutely #1. I'd also add a few more to the list: Raiders of the Lost Ark. After all, who can forget the shot of the Ark being sealed into the crate, and then a slow pan up to reveal the infinitely large warehouse, with who knows what other secrets locked away?
Second, the reveting endings to Spielberg's other great masterpieces: Schindler breaking down, wondering how many others he might have saved; and an elderly Private Ryan at the cemetary?
And the only truly great Star Trek movie: The Wrath of Kahn. With Spock dead, Kirk's "I feel young", and then the slow pan down through the lush forest, fading out over Spock's coffin, and his bass voice with "space, the final frontier..."
Lastly, there is of course Serenity, which we all know should be on every great movie list everywhere.
"Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down, tells you she's hurting before she keels. Makes her a home."

fun blog today- i like the quirky weird movies the best - memento, dead again, fight club, and while it's not quirky, audrey hepburn was the coolest in wait until dark...
